'Coming of age' means that you are growing in your personality and wisdom. One example of 'coming of age' for Charlotte is when Charlotte starts to read the Bible to the crew because it shows that she is getting closer to them. Another example of 'coming of age' for Charlotte is when she takes the clothing from Zachariah because it shows that she is getting comfortable on the ship and she is changing. Charlotte changes by getting along with the crew but also staying in touch with her previous life by having tea with Captain Jaggery.

  2. The 'coming of age' means when you enter a part of you life where you are able to look at people and yours and others belonings in a different way. You are also able to handle problems and opinions with wisdom and respect that has growen into your personality. In this book Charlotte shows this by doing little but helpful things for the crew. An example of this would be where she sets some time aside to read to the crew from her bible. By doing this she notices how it calms them and how they are being over worked. So she goes to captain Jaggery and asks if its very nessecary, in this process even though she might not know it she stands up for them. By doing these little things she shows respect for the crew and could possibly gain the trust of the crew in the future and if anyone were to turn on her no matter what she would have someone on her side.

  3. Coming of age is when you learn about life and grow through events that take place within your life.Charlotte expierianceing this in a way because she is no longer a snooty proper girl who sees only wealth and class. She understands that what is in the heart really matters.
